Smack Down on Facebook? Deal With it Like Bodyform

Bodyform hit it out of the park at the beginning of the month. This is an awesome example in which a company responds to a Facebook smack down with exactly the right inflection and not only defends itself but does its reputation a huge favor.

In a Facebook post, a young man posted this about Bodyform (you can guess what it's about): 

And here's how the British company responded: 

As my smart colleague Ilyse Smith (@ilysesmith) said about the incident in an internal email when she brought it to my attention, Bodyform was "willing to take a risk" and is clearly "comfortable with its brand personality."

I'd add that it does everything right — using quirky humour, a pop culture sensibility and what Dr. Giorgos Cheliotis (gcheliotis@nus.edu.sgcalls anomalous juxtaposition ("juxtaposing starkly contrasting themes, moods, ideologies, in a playfully provocative manner") to one-up a put down.
