WHY 'THE INTANGIBLES'?

108-0864_IMG

Because, to paraphrase NYU's Baruch Lev, to say that the tangible assets of an organization should be valued, while its intangible assets should not, is like stating that ‘things’ are valuable, while ‘ideas’ are not.

More than that . . . ideas (by nature intangible) if well-articulated, without recourse to dogma, and tempered by debate can improve life, increase business, build organizational personality or give shape to a leader's reputation. And the ideas can come from anywhere . . . films, theatre, novels, poetry, business, social practice (as Marxists call it) and, yes, wine and sports.

So what can you expect here?

Especially on my blog, comments, links, thoughts and ideas on all aspects of the previous list.

But, since I have spent the good part of my professional life consulting with companies and organizations on reputation, crisis and issues management, corporate responsibility, investor relations, leadership and recently social computing strategies as they play out in all communication problems and exercises, most of the links, images, blog posts, cartoons and videos will be concerned with these business issues.
